The Saratoga County attack happened early Sunday, Oct. 1, in Saratoga Springs at the Saratoga Hospital.

According to sheriff’s officials, the suspect stabbed both employees, leaving them with visible injuries. The wounds were not considered life threatening.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the incident.

Deputies did not reveal the suspect’s name, age, or gender, but said they will face criminal charges.

In a statement Monday, Oct. 2, Saratoga Hospital said the situation was “resolved quickly” and the suspect was still being treated at the facility.

The hospital credited regular training exercises and workplace violence preparedness programs for employees’ quick response to Sunday’s alleged attack.

“First and foremost, we would like to acknowledge the skill and professionalism of our team, who worked quickly to mitigate the situation,” hospital administrators said.

“Our main priority has been and continues to be ensuring a safe work environment for our staff so they may provide care to the community.”

Both nurses have been treated for their injuries and released.
